Christians Against Poverty is a charity founded in 1996 to reach out to the poor in our communities chained in poverty by unmanageable debt.

The Debt Centre in Telford was opened in 2015 by a partnership of 4 local churches, All Saints Wellington, St. John’s Muxton,  St. Mary’s and St. Leonard’s Wombridge and Central Telford Churches. It is funded by local churches and the Christian community.

We are called to be alongside CAP clients bearing witness to God’s love, bringing hope, change and new life.  CAP seeks to offer an holistic service, with compassion and without judgement , for clients to  become debt free. It provides them with guidance, support, practical assistance as well as moral support to lessen isolation, depression and to feel valued.  The Centre is supported by a team of volunteers in various roles. Volunteer befrienders provide practical and sustainable assistance until clients become debt free as well as a link to churches to facilitate, where requested, those seeking a means of exploring or knowing more about the Christian faith.

Is God calling you to be alongside those in need in our community?
